What is a better glove brand? Youngstown or Ironclad? I've been constantly searching for an excellent box handler type pair of gloves. I've used Ironclad numerous times and have tried different kinds of gloves and other different brands. I've never used a Youngstown glove....Is it any good? The difference on the style you are looking for is the reinforcement on the finger tips. The Youngstown TackMaster Plus is worth looking into because it has rubber reinforced finger tips. This is a major wear area and the reinforcement on the finger tips lends to a longer lasting glove.

Does your Au Pair live in the backyard or under the house?

Au Pairs are young men and women from 18 to 26 years of age. They are allowed to come to the United States to care for children. They are hosted by the family of the children and can remain for up to 12 months. The Au Pair is allowed to care for the children up to 10 hours in a given day, but not more than 45 hours per week. The Au Pair is paid a monthly stipend as well as room and board. It is similar to having a foreign exchange student who is willing to provide childcare for you.

Most Au Pairs use their opportunity in the United States to engage in the culture that is offered. They also choose to attend college. Most Au Pair contracts require the host family to either pay for the tuition or to pay a percentage of the cost for the Au Pair to attend classes. Training in child care and first aid is required to become an Au Pair. The individual must have at least 200 hours of training if they will be caring for a child under 2 years of age. Specific training must be completed if the Au Pair will be caring for a disabled child.

To match Au Pairs with compatible families, both undergo extensive in person interviews and complete pages of questionnaires. The questions ask about the individuals habits, goals, work habits, etc. If you are looking for some assistance with the care of your child or children, hosting an Au Pair might be an excellent solution for your family. Not only will you be finding a reliable person to fill your child care needs, you will be allowing an individual the opportunity to come to the United States and explore the culture while furthering their education.

The decision to hire an Au Pair should not be entered into lightly. While they are less expensive than a nanny, they are also less experienced. Since an Au Pair can only remain in the United States for 12 months, it may be difficult for your children to become attached to the Au Pair and then have to adjust to someone else down the road to care for them.

You will need to make sure your Au Pair is responsible and speaks English. You will also need to make sure their college schedule will be flexible enough to fit into the hours you need them to care for your children. Most Au Pairs will want to have some free time to socialize and interact with other people in the college environment. If you are willing to be flexible, then having an Au Pair will work for you.
