What is the difference between a headlight assembly that is CAPA certified and one that is only DOT and SAE?
My left headlight is de-laminating. The CAPA certified costs fifty bucks more than the ones with DOT and SAE. This is for a 2004 Ford Focus ZX3. The capa costs 90-150 and the DOT/SAEs cost 55 bucks. What am I buying with CAPA & SAE/DOT?
Likely just not certified by them. Here's their link http://www.capacertified.org/
Hey so I've got a 95 Mustang.. not sure if that matters but the rear tires in it are in need of replacing. now I figure that tires with that dope white writing on the side of them looks pretty sharp. any chance I could get these put on my car? if so, how?
*the writing on the tires is regular white LOL
Most tires come with the "dope" white letters on the side of them, but most people that have them choose to mount them so the letters are on the inside, but not all tires can be mounted both ways. If you are looking for a good performance tire, it will not have the white letters on it. Also, only thicker tires usually have the letters.
I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 automatic GL. I need to remove the fuel tank sender assembly so I can replace my fuel pump but the "Haynes" and "Chilton's" repair manual states that I need a "fuel tank sender unit wrench D84P-9275-A." My question is where can I get the wrench and do I really need it to remove the sender assembly?
I use a locking chain wrench whenever it fits -- a wonderful tool for those odd things:

Ford zx2 repair manual gives you an overview of your Ford sedan vehicle. It highlights a new vehicle design with similarities to its prior models like the Mercury Tracer. A 110 horsepower and 2 liter 4 cylinder engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. Experts fairly scored this vehicle, 10 being the highest, with performance, 3, fuel economy, 7, ride quality, 4, steering/ handling/ breaking, 4, quietness, 4, controls/ materials, 5, interior room, 4, room/ comfort (rear), 3, and cargo capacity, 2. The total score garnered was 41.
Although, this vehicle made a pretty good score from the experts, it still has several disadvantages. The disadvantages are rear seat room and wind and road noises -- having scored 3 over 10 for rear room/ comfort shows that it does not have much comfortable space at the back and having scored 4 over 10 for quietness which makes it a bit noisy with wind noise and road noise. The disadvantages this vehicle are fairly few and can be compensated with its advantages, which are having optional antilock brakes, consumes less fuel, and a fairly affordable price for middle income people or family. You also need chilton auto repair manual.
So this vehicle is essential for families who are trying to save up money. Or who wants vehicles that are sleek-looking but does not strain on the budget. I personally would like a vehicle such as this, because it gives the essentials like airbags, enough room for steering and optional anti-lock brakes. With a 110 horsepower engine, it is fast enough and efficient enough for me to reach a destination in time. I mean why buy a fast car that would only cost me much and would also risk my life with high possibility of maintenance. It is more practical to buy a car that is suitable for you and that can give you the edge as well as the necessary things you need in a car.
With Ford zx2, you get your money's worth because it offers the features that are necessary for a vehicle. It does not have gimmicks that would costs you more. It only has the essentials you need in a vehicle which will allow you to reach your destination with style and comfort that you need. And the manual/Audi Repair manuals is easily available and easy to understand so that adds up to the advantages. So this vehicle is not only good for families but for the working people and for students who can afford this car as well.

I just bought a 1998 ford contour that has power windows and locks and I would like a factory keyless entry system. Is that possible.? If so, where do i get it done? Could you please estimate how much it would cost if you know? Thanks everyone!
I would like an actual keyless entry from a ford dealer not an aftermarket one.
This can be done as a separate system or more commonly with an aftermarket alarm system - Viper, Clifford just to name a few. I'd check with some of your local stereo shops or best buy, circuit city, etc.
plus with an alarm system, you'll most likely qualify for an insurance discount but check with your agent.
As far as cost, i'd say in the neighborhood of $200 to $400 installed should get you keyless entry, starter disable (so it can't be started with the system on), & maybe remote start (so you can start it on hot or cold days remotely & have it ready to go)
as far as your request for the factory alarm system....sure, I can see where it's good to keep the factory items, that way if something were to go wrong, any ford dealership could work on it. However, when you purchase a car without a certain option, like an alarm or a/c, etc. certain parts aren't installed in the assembly line. Like say a different wiring harness, fuse panel, etc. A good rule of thumb is to see how much the option cost to be added to the car when new then double that price for a good estimate to have it installed now. It's gonna cost you at least what it did new & then some.
I'd say an aftermarket system would be the way to go & go with a WELL known name.
Are you in the market for a Ford Ranger for sale? It's not a surprise really. Ford's compact pickup is one of the most popular trucks in North America, and you count yourself among many shopping for both new and used Rangers. The reasons why are obvious. The Ford Ranger is a great utility truck that provides extremely good fuel performance at an amazing price. What's not to love?
A Brand New Ford Ranger
The consumer with $15K or more to spend can set their eyes on brand new Ford Ranger for sale. Invoice ranges from $16,800 - $23,800. $15K will get you inside a basic Ranger with air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, and manual transmission. The buyer that can afford a couple of thousand more can add keyless entry, full power accessories, and a CD player with satellite radio. A host of performance and off-road packages will allow you to take that price up to $24K if you feel like splurging.
Fourth Generation
Ford began manufacturing fourth generation Rangers in 1998, and these are an excellent option for truck buyers who want a modern compact pickup, but want to pay far less than the $15K they need for a new one. Consumers can purchase a Ford Ranger for sale that is five years old with decent mileage at half that price. The truck will be slightly outdated aesthetically, but it will include most of the functionality and safety of the modern truck. This won't entirely be the case with the late 90s models, so most consumers will want to stick with those Rangers that Ford manufactured after the turn of the century.
Third Generation
Ford manufactured the third generation Ranger between 1993 and 1997. This is where Ford introduced the aerodynamic styling, so while these Rangers look "older", they don't necessarily look "old". They also boast Blue Book values that make them extremely attractive for the bargain hunter, or for the consumer that doesn't want to pay a lot for a third vehicle. While not quite up to today's standards, the safety features in these third-gen Rangers is very good, but a lack of a passenger side airbag prior to 1996 is a problem. Consumers considering a third-gen Ranger should probably focus on a 1996 or 1997 edition.
Second Generation
Ford manufactured the second generation Ranger from 1989 until 1992. The second generation brought with it a dramatic facelift that introduced the boxy frontend for which the Rangers and S10s of the 80s and early 90s became famous. These second-gen Rangers remain excellent options for the enthusiast who wants a project with a very low investment. However, the average consumer will find these older Rangers lacking in many ways. One, it's an unsafe truck by today's standards. Two, the truck will require too much upkeep for the owner who will take it to the shop each time it needs work.
First Generation
Introduced in 1983 and manufactured until 1988, Ford's first generation Ranger remains popular with collectors and enthusiasts. However, like the second generation that followed it, these make for poor options for the average truck owner due a lack of safety features and the high level of maintenance required.
Ford has been manufacturing Rangers since 1983, and that means that whatever your needs, there's a Ford Ranger for sale to meet them. The 2004 Ranger seems to be the sweet spot for the person who wants maximum value without sacrificing modern amenities and safety features.

Lose wires and battery light flashing in Ford Contour?
I have a 1998 Ford Contour and my battery light has been flashing on and off occasionally for a few weeks. The battery is new and fully charged and I got my alternator checked and it is also working fine. Now I'm thinking it's a problem is loose wires or as a friend told me, maybe a belt. I prefer to do it myself if it's an easy fix so that I don't have to pay anyone. Can anyone tell me exactly what I'm looking for?
Find a spot on the belt where there is a fair span without a pulley in the way. Put your thumb on it (engine off of course) and push. How far did it deflect? If more than just a little, replace the belt.
Next, take the negative battery terminal off, then the positive, clean them well and the battery terminal, then reapply making sure they are tight.
Is the light still flashing? If not, you fixed it. If so, go see your mechanic, you've done all you can.

When selecting sunglasses, you want to take into consideration your face shape, hair color, eyebrows, and nose as well as your individual style. Choose frames that complement your own personal coloring and that balance your face shape. Working with a trained optician or eyewear stylist will help you make the right choice.
For My Ladies -
After Tom Ford left Gucci, he launched his namesake eyewear brand one year later. Introduced in 2006, the entire line left the masses drooling with their modern yet retro feel. Big sunglass frames convey a jet-set attitude and the Tom Ford Whitney has adorned many jet-setters such as Gwen Stefani, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, and Jennifer Lopez. The Whitney style was named after his dear friend and loyal assistant. It's wonderfully oversized yet does not overpower the face, making it perfect for most face shapes. The Whitney is unique with contoured lenses, a crisscross detail at the bridge and rose gold metal detail at the temple. It comes in ten different colors but the champagne frame with the light brown gradient lens is extremely elegant. Other great styles by Tom Ford are the Jennifer, Anouk (great for Triangle + Square faces), and the Marissa. Angelina Jolie has been seen wearing these "Hot Summer Shades." The normal retail price for these shades is $360.00 USD.
For The Fellas -
Tom Ford makes every item of menswear look beyond cool. This pair of sunglasses is no different. These plastic shades look very similar to the Ray Ban Wayfarer but are updated and even cooler. The black plastic frame is chunky and is slightly more rounded than the Ray Ban version. The lenses are polarized and smoked for ultimate paparazzi hiding power. You'll need it, as you'll most certainly look famous in these bad boys. Ashton Kutcher has been seen wearing these "Hot Summer Sades." The normal retail price for these shades is $380.00 USD.

I recently purchased a 1968 mustang 2-Door hardtop. I had a car accident and i need to repair the front of it. Where can i get a good deal in the parts.
there are lots of parts places in the links at this group
I am living in Chile and I am in the process of buying a Ford Escape 2008 petrol 2.3. However, I will be moving to South Africa later this year, and I was planning to take the vehicle. I learned that Ford South Africa does not sell Ford Escape but sells instead Ford Territory and Ford Ranger. How common are the parts of Ford Escape with the other Ford ranges available in Africa and how easy will be to source parts?
It depends on the parts you are looking for. Any petrolium burning 2.3L Ford engine will interchange parts almost 100% based on the production run of the engine. If the engine was built in 2008 than almost any 2.3L from 2005-present should interchange parts very readily. suspension componants tend to differ from model to model so it would be difficult to find parts such as control arms and things of that nature. The brake system may have the same componants as the ranger or territory but you would have to research that in great detail and make sure the part numbers are EXACTLY the same. Hope that helps.
