The stock 6.0L V8 LS2 produces 400 BHP at the flywheel with a cold air intake, Borla exhaust, and custom headers you probably added 15 to 20 BHP at the flywheel.
2003 Ford Ranger XLT stock exhaust tailpipe question please help!?
Since I can't find it anywhere ugh! my exhaust tailpipe o.d. is 2 1/4 I want to get a nice stainless exhaust tip to slip right onto the stock exhaust "tailpipe" length is about 8 1/2in and gets a little smaller going into the muffler what tip can I buy for it to fit perfect need sizes specs
Your best bet is to have your local muffler shop customize it for you. They have all sort of metal. Personally, I would just go with stainless tip. Stainless steal seem to be very expensive and hard to bent.
When Power Ranger becomes the subject of a tête-à-tête, what first comes to mind is the long-running children’s television show that lasted for three seasons. With the introduction of the new Ranger from Ford Motor Co., the automaker is giving people one good reason to push Mighty Morphin Power Rangers behind to pave way for a valiant uphill warrior.
Ford Australia launched the 2007 Ranger as a replacement for the Courier, an old American pickup. "Setting new standards in the light commercial sector, the all-new Ford Ranger is a no-compromise, powerful vehicle offering the style, comfort and refinement of a passenger car," said Ford Australia President Tom Gorman.
"The new Ranger is more powerful compared with Courier, offers improved functionality, significantly increased three-tonne towing ability (when using a 3.0-litre manual transmission model fitted with a genuine Ford towpack and load leveling kit), and maintains a one-tonne plus payload across the range. Ford engineers have built on the company’s vast experience in trucks to deliver the ultimate one-tonne vehicle with the performance and power to get the job done.”
Gorman added, "At the same time, we recognized that Ranger had to be versatile enough to adapt to the changing needs of the light commercial owner in the 21st century. It needs to be a combination of reliable work mate, family vehicle, lifestyle statement and an adventure vehicle. We engineered Ranger to deliver on all these expectations. It’s the can do truck – a truck that means business."
Gorman noted that the change of name was resorted to after numerous hours of exhaustive customer research and brainstorming. “It was a tough decision to change a name that has been part of the Ford Australia family since 1978, but the research was overwhelming. The light commercial vehicle sector has changed dramatically in recent years, with customers wanting more from their truck than just a reliable work vehicle. Today's light truck owner wants the best of both worlds – a dependable, genuine truck for the industrious worker and a great family vehicle with the quality, comfort, safety and modern conveniences they demand. Ranger researched well as a brand name that exemplified all these attributes,” said Gorman.
Ford’s Ranger brand is used by the automaker around the globe. According to the company, this is the ideal time to introduce in Australia a new light truck with a bold new name. Ranger is designed to radiate a bolder and more aggressive charisma with a modern car-like interior. The pickup is equipped with two new common-rail turbo-diesel engines featuring direct injection, enhanced ride and handling and appreciably higher towing capacity.
The pickup was designed by the automaker’s pool of engineers to appear tough and rugged to stand the most demanding truck applications. “We listened to the market and focused our improvements on Ranger’s classic rugged exterior, its refined and comfortable interior, exceptional diesel performance, great driving feel and fantastic ability both on and off-road," added Gorman.
All-new Ranger was redesigned to give it a longer wheelbase and cab. To raise its capabilities to the maximum, the twin I-beam front suspension was replaced by a wishbone-style system. In addition, the new Ranger is offered with a 143 horsepower 2.3 L I4, a 148 horsepower 3.0 L V6, and a 207 horsepower 4.0 L V6 engines. All transmissions are 5-speed and come with a choice of manual or automatic. Adding an APC Cold Air Intake would also help boost the performance of the vehicle.
"The light commercial segment is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing in the Australian market," concluded Gorman. "The new Ranger, with its impressive list of features, gives Ford Australia a fantastic vehicle to enhance our well earned light truck reputation."

Gibson Performance Exhaust systems are manufactured in gas and diesel applications for cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles with a limited lifetime warranty and will not effect factory warranties. With options such as aluminized or stainless steel and five different exhaust exits, there is no going wrong with Gibson’s line of performance cat-back systems. You will certainly find what you are looking for in this line with the style, torque, tone and brilliant engineering, whether your vehicle is for work or for play. The performance and durability of these parts are also quite impressive. Almost all of the parts come zinc-plated with heavy-duty stainless steel clamps and offer the maximum exhaust flow for the most efficient exhaust and have three to four- inch tailpipes.
The Gibson Side Swept Exhaust will provide a quick acceleration and the best towing power. Hill-climbing is at its easiest with a low-end horsepower gain and at the same time you’ll have a quiet in-cab, low tone. Exit is behind the rear tire near stock, and the mandrel- bent tubing keeps exhaust flow constant for maximum performance. This side-swept exhaust comes with a T-304 high polished stainless steel clamp-less slash tip and zinc plated 3/8 to ½ inch factory style hangers, heavy-duty clamps, and stainless steel- 409L Stainless heavy -duty tubing, as do most of the exhausts.
The Gibson Dual Cat-back Exhaust horsepower gains are 10-15 and 15-20lb-ft of increase torque and will result in better fuel efficiency. Some of the best qualities of this exhaust system are the easy bolt-on installation, a great look and a decrease in the negative exhaust damage to your tow trailer. It will provide the same great exhaust flow and come zinc-plated as mentioned above, but it adds on a Superflow TM Muffler that is fully welded, baffled and chambered for better volume efficiency.
With the Split Rear Bolt-on Cat-back Exhaust there is an increase in horsepower and torque as a result of decreased backpressure. It will work on most bumpers but with some vehicles you might need to remove the spare tire, and it is not suggested for towing because of carbon monoxide issues. The best qualities of this are the improved horsepower (average gain of 15-20) and the aggressive sound.
An alternative to the Split Rear Bolt- on Cat-back is the Gibson Extreme Dual Bolt-on Cat-back. This exhaust is great for looks (dual exits behind the rear wheels at an angle) and even better for performance. Your towing, passing, and accelerating abilities will skyrocket.
The Gibson Super Truck Exhaust is fast, powerful, and loud. There are definite dyno-tested gains in horsepower, torque, and fuel efficiency and noise levels hit 95 decibels.
The point of a diesel exhaust is to decrease backpressure, lower temperatures and provide power. With Gibson’s Diesel Single Side Exit Exhaust you will get just that. This heavy-duty exhaust provides a dyno-tested increase as much as 32 horsepower and, in addition, 60 ft-lbs in torque. This comes with a four-inch Mandrel-bent tailpipe allowing maximum flow and performance. If you want this in a dual exhaust it is available with a three-inch tailpipe and rear-wheel exits at an angle. This is the Gibson Diesel Extreme Dual Exhaust.
Another good option to the Dual Diesel Extreme is the Diesel Dual Sport Exhaust. Gibson manufactured this one for a great look, a 30 ft-lbs torque increase, and an awesome sound. This comes in the large three-inch Mandrel-bent tailpipe with the Superflow TM Muffler. The Dual Sport also provides a 15 horsepower increase.
Gibson’s line of American Muscle car exhausts can be used on V6 and V8 Dodge Chargers, Ford Mustangs, and GTO’s. They come with T-304 high-polished stainless steel clamp-less slash tips and muffler and, as always, will provide increased torque and horsepower and overall better performance of your vehicle. All zinc-plated, produce a great rumble, and easy to install.
Last but not least, Gibson has great Performance Headers. Each one is Dyno-tuned for street and off-road vehicles, raised or lowered, and they cool engine temperatures in extreme off-roading, racing, or highway speeds. One of the best qualities is that you can use the stock crossover pipe and drop the headers in as exact replacements of factory manifolds. Great features of Gibson headers include: 50 state street legal, OEM style connections, laser cut port flanges, air injection and oxygen sensor fittings, and the fact that there is no need for welding as they are completely bolt-on. They come in nickel chrome plated (very durable), stainless steel or ceramic coated with high-temperature polished coating.
So. About these new Ford diesels. Are they any good and what's up with the exhaust filter?
I hear people all the time telling me the new Ford F250s and F350s have an exhaust filter on them that catches fire. And if you take said filter off, the truck stops running. How are you supposed to make it sound badass if you can't take off the stock shit?
Everyone I know that once had a Ford truck hated it, always complained about reliability issues, and one who had the diesel had hard times starting it during the winter. If you want a diesel truck I would go with Dodge, unfortunately Toyota and Nissan don't yet offer diesel for their trucks which would be great if they did because they are tough and very reliable trucks. Also quality built.
The Duramax Diesel trucks are known to be powerful. They are built with heavy duty engines with a lot of power and the famous Allison transmission that all the ford and dodge drivers wish they had. There are still those out there that don’t know that there are ways to boost their power and more importantly, boost their fuel economy significantly. Now is more important than ever that duramax owners learn about these things with the rising fuel prices and demanding jobs for their trucks and in many cases their businesses and livelihood.
The first thing that anyone should do to their duramax to increase fuel economy and power is a tuner or module. With the addition of a tuner or module to the duramax, fuel economy can be increased anywhere from one to five miles per gallon. Most people gain right around three or four miles per gallon. Results do vary though, depending on driving habits and the truck configuration. Another nice feature of a tuner is that the speedometer can be recalibrated for different size tires and the speed limiter can be removed for the weekend track people. The tuners and modules increase engine efficiency by altering and optimizing the fueling parameters. Power and fuel economy increases go together except on the race modules and tuner programs that are made for racing. In those cases the truck is being tuned just for power. Most tuners and modules are available with multiple programs to suit the needs of everyone.
Another popular modification for power and fuel economy increases is the cold air intake. Getting air into the engine is extremely important. If you don’t have enough air getting into the engine, the result is black smoke, which equals fuel and money out the tail pipe. Tuners or modules and air intakes work well together by optimizing the fuel and the air to get the most power and biggest fuel economy increases. The last thing that people do is an upgraded exhaust system. This does a couple of things. It helps keep exhaust gas temperatures down. This is important especially for anyone that has to tow something. You don’t want to melt your engine parts. There are a lot of options for exhaust upgrades. One of the most popular as of late is diesel smoke stacks. They put the exhaust up and away from where it will get all over the trailer. It gives the truck a big rig type look. They also give a bit of a power and fuel economy increase be relieving back pressure. The Diesel smoke stacks can be found in single and dual configurations. The most important thing of any of this is saving dollars with a tough economy.
I have a 2002 c5 2 owner car with kooks longtubes offroad xpipe and b and b bullet exhaust, intake dyno tuned it has 78k miles on it 6 speed it seems like it might start having problems is my daily driver i like it because of sex appeal and fun factor but seems like it has lost a lot of power since mods were put on last yearish, have been a mustang fan esp terminator aka 2003/2004 cobra i know they are fast and moddable and i like the mitsubishi evos 2003-2005ish not the brand new ones there are a few of these for sale in my area I want racing power sound and pick up *** car like the vette whats my best bet? Buy one of those ?keep up vette? or trade in for another c5 with lower miles? Thanks
couple of points for you to consider on the one i know best...
-03/04 terminators among the most easiest to upgrade because of original build quality, but they are not without their faults
-assembly of the powertrain is all very good (but require upgrade of the spline in the 6sp trans), but interior assembly is weak/quite cheaply done.
-with a little suspension work, they make an excellent street car (only mustang with IRS).
i dearly love my terminator...and the power is quite impressive.....but quite frankly next car will likely be z06.
if you are serious about a terminator some personal recommendations:
-04 and 03 are identical but 04's had less head problems (also only 5600 were produced in 04)
-try for low mileage, there are many garage queens around (for example my 04 has never seen rain or snow and just turned 19,000 mi.
there are others around with less miles than that.
-many cobra guys recommend buying bonestock cobra - then modding it, which i have never understood because:
-easy to turn a car that's been pullied back to stock, no one will know
-if you buy power on the hoof its much much cheaper than buying it aftermarket and installing it.
example ......i bought my cobra (after searching for about 6 mos. for $23,000.....talked to the pro shop that did all the mods, had a full ck done including compression, and all was a-1
car was running:
-2.3 whipple blower at 15p.s.i.
-60lb injectors & a MAFia
-fuel rails
-top end intercooler
-centerforce dfx clutch
-magnaflow catbacks & x-pipe
-springs, suspension, subchassis upgrades
-other stuff
-19" original foose rims
-$2000 custom audio install (dual amp/woofers/pro installation).
to date, i have done oil changes and new tires(on order), and will likely put on qa-1's on the back to stiffen the suspension.....
car was dyno'd at 575rwHP
so those are just personal thoughts on the cobra....have no view on the EVO, but have driven the new WRX sti, and like it a lot except found the clutch sloppy-slow to engage.....i just cannot get my head around a 4 dr. sedan with all that screwy looking bodykit (turbo'd z or supra or skyline/gt-r that's a lotta appeal).
personally if i were you.......and your vette is clean...i would rebuild the engine and tighten it up. quite frankly if its a daily driver - you might find its better to dd than a terminator....
anyway just personal views.......if you want more you can sight me direct at:

If you are a racing enthusiast, a holiday at a racing destination will definitely get the best out of you. These vacations are by far more stimulating and exciting than watching the broadcasts on television. This is one of the best reasons to plan a racing vacation. There are a number of ways to enjoy such fun holidays.
One way is to visit one of the prominent museums, like Daytona, which not only has good tracks and wonderful museum facilities, but also features the Richard Petty driving experience that will keep you entertained for hours. Not only do they have some of the most famous cars ever on display in these museums, but they also have some of the most interesting information about drivers and races. While viewing the memorabilia you can learn a lot of interesting things.
Another suitable option is to book a trip with a sports travel agency where you can select from the Formula One, NASCAR and even Grand Prix vacations. Most packages include hotel accommodation and tickets to a race or two along with admission to a local museum, track tours, twenty-four hour trip assistance and freebies like programs and souvenirs. Some packages also include airline tickets and all sorts of optional add-ons to your racing vacation. One example of a package in demand has an option of session with NASCAR drivers at Atlanta Motor Speedway and another package has an option that lets you use the hospitality tent. The tents come with free food and beverages. You also have an option to rent a scanner to hear the commentary on the race, follow the drivers and officials and you can even watch the race live.
The best option possibly could be to live the experience through a racing school. After selecting the driving school you can make the choices that suit your needs. The first decision will have to be made as to what kind of school you would like to get admitted into, and select any car you like from Indy's to Corvettes. The next thing to decide upon is the duration of your driving experience that could last from half a day and two to three days. The first session is a classroom one that just teaches the basics like riules on the track and racing safety tips. The other lessons taught are based on driver essentials, skid works, car dyanmics, balacning a car which are essential to know on the track. From ther on instructurs willalso help you get used to cars and build your driving skills as each practice session follows. In majority of the racing schools, qualified driving coaches take you and your classmates on a step-by-step learning spree, through a skill-oriented program to help you explore your interests, helping you to develop your abilities as a driver. There is no pressure on your performance, since everyone is simply there for fun. The racing schools get their money up front and so, they do not care much about your performance on the track, unlike high school football, where performance is everything. By the end of the day in racing school, you'll probably be able to drive your dream car like a pro, lapping the track at hair-raising speeds that you dreamed of as you commuted to work. If you choose to enroll in a racing school, be sure you rest and eat well the day before. It is important to take care of your body before you actually begin practice, as it is exhausting. A driving license is a requirement to enroll in a driving school.
Choosing and planning a racing vacation can make your next holiday a rewarding change to the monotonous life you lead.
