 Is an engine on a 2001 svt cobra mustang reliable? It has a 4.6 and is completely stock. Also, It has about 95,000. I'm looking to purchase it but I dont want any problems. I'm also thinking about insatlling a twin turbo setup. What do yall think? Obviously reliability doesn't matter to you if you're considering twin turbos. Stock it's reliable. Of course any time you add forced induction reliability/durability will be somewhat compromised. |

Many people who gave a good overview of defective equipment might like this, and do not know. This unit ran fine in most cases - on the surface ... Yes, the meter always showing zero ... but I could live with that ... Then I tried connecting the PS3. Backing up the red light would not come (and yes, they run fine modified sine wave - which is not). Then I tested the output with a multimeter and found the drive to give a constant 82 volts. As I said earlier, ran most things right, and most reviewers do not agree with the voltage (output voltage is displayed on the converter), because most of their "secular" means of verification, they were usually running - and would certainly give the same crappy 82V inverter Five Star review - then on the road, just a picture that crapped their equipment because it was old. The output of 82V will eventually make the devices suitable for 110-120V? I know that there are different answers depending on the device. You decide, I listed some facts.

Good while it lasted!
I purchased one of these last year to use in my boat. It worked great. Powered a 19" LCD TV with it and other stuff. One of the things I really liked about it was the USB port. Used it for many items. However when I commissioned the boat this spring the 110v outlets would not work. The USB does. The Troubleshooting guide was worthless and referred to something I could not find on my Unit (a "Protect Indicator Light"). I called Cobra direct and they would only tell me that it needed to be sent in but I needed a receipt which I am having difficulty finding. I think I may be SOL but I may send it in anyway.

Bought this to hook up to a car battery so I can run small electrical tools (weed eater, reciprocating saw, drill, etc.) anywhere on my property without running a couple hundred feet of extension cord. Mounted the battery and inverter on a small cart and the setup works flawlessly. The digital readout and warning beeper work as advertised. I am very pleased with the inverter.

I purchased the cobra CPI 1575 1500 watt DC power inverter to install in my Dodge pick-up. I use power inverter for my 1000 amp coffee pot and power tools like a drill and saw when I'm repairing or building a board fence in the pasture. The Cobra CPI 1500 watt power inverter and cables work well for my needs, plenty of amps without heating up. I have a diesel 2500 Ram pick up and realized that the the engine compartment was limited on space to install the power inverter. If you have this problem you could do what I did, I cut a 2x6 board in the length of the passenger side battery and cut a groove down the middle of the board to run the batteries mounting screw though, it held the board tightly in place. I than bolted the power inverter to the board. Note: you have to mount the inverter to the board before you install it. So the inverter sits bolted to the side of the battery on a board facing up. The shorter you make the power cable the better your power inverter will perform. I used less than a foot of cable and I don't see a problem with mounting it to the side of the battery as long as it's not interfering with the battery in anyway, it works for me.

I bought this inverter for my semi and I use it on a daily basis. It runs my laptop and my small microwave with no problem. It has a low profile so it doesn't take up much space. It runs quietly even when the cooling fans are running full speed. I've used other smaller Cobra inverters in the past and I've been very happy with their products.
Doesnt work without engine constantly running
This unit works fine in a scenario where you have a constant 12v feed such as off an alternator. I was trying to use it as a backup supply off a marine battery to run the fan & ignitor in a corn burner. Although the load was low the battery only lasted about an hour. I did try multiple batteries but found that the only way it worked was to be hooked up to a running vehicle. I have a neighbor running a similar setup with a generic brand inverter and his battery lasts several days before requiring a recharge. He did bring his battery and inverter over to try with my corn burner as a known good setup and all seemed fine.
